Prayer Groups

The parish should be ‘school of prayer’ said the Bishops of England and Wales in ’Easter People’. The Church has a great and rich tradition of different forms of prayer. The Liturgical life of the Church is at the heart of all our prayer. We are all called to develop our own personal relationship with God through the way we pray throughout the day. As a community we try help each of us to find the best way to do that.

MONDAY PRAYER GROUP
Meets each Monday in the Parish Centre from 10.30 - 12noon The first half is spent in worship, spontaneous prayer and singing with members sharing experiences from their Christian living. Scripture passages are read followed by petition when prayer is said for the needs of the Church. The presence of the Holy Spirit is experienced through the love and affection shared by the members of the group.

NEW LIFE IN THE SPIRIT PRAYER GROUP
An Ecumenical and Charismatic prayer group, we meet on the 1st & 3rd Monday of each month at 8pm; the 1st Monday at Nelson St, Macc. & the 3rd Monday at St Gregory’s Presbytery, Bollington.

We meet to give praise and thanks to God and we pray to be filled anew with God’s Holy Spirit and to continue to grow in His Spirit – in order to serve Him in whatever way He leads us, individually or as a group - in our family, parish, diocese, community, workplace etc. We pray for the needs and renewal of our Parish, Church and our world as well as personal intentions. Prayers for healing are an important part of our meetings.

We are an ecumenical group and, although at times attendance by members of other denominations declines, the group remains ecumenical in spirit; as such we have been richly blessed by the Maranatha Community, of which many of the group are active members.

HEALING SERVICE
A Healing Mass is said on the first Wednesday of each month.

There is Prayer and Praise at 6:45pm before the 7pm Mass. This is followed with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We have our priests, prayer team and music ministry serving the Parish, praying with individuals for healing.

Jesus healed the sick and He instructs us..."they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover" (Mark 16:17).

Everyone is welcome to all or part of the evening.
